Spyware Blaster: -
Spyware Blaster is an anti spyware and adware program for Microsoft Windows. SpywareBlaster blocks the installation of most ActiveX-based spyware, adware, browser hijackers, dialers and other unwanted programs from the user's computer. SpywareBlaster works by blacklisting the CLSID of known malware programs, effectively preventing them from infecting a protected computer. This approach differs from many other anti-spyware programs, which typically offer the user a possibility to "scan" the memory of the computer and remove the unwanted software, after it has been installed.
SpywareBlaster also allows the user to prevent privacy hazards such as tracking cookies. Another feature is the ability to restrict the actions of websites known to distribute adware and spyware. SpywareBlaster supports several web browsers, including Internet Explorer, Netscape, Mozilla and Mozilla Firefox, Mozilla Seamonkey, and Flock.
SpywareBlaster is currently released as freeware, for non-commercial users. However, a feature called AutoUpdate is available for a price. The AutoUpdate feature simply checks for and installs any updates for SpywareBlaster. This feature is not included in the freeware due to the high bandwidth cost required.

Trend Micro: -

Trend Micro (TYO: 4704) is a global company, headquartered in Tokyo, that develops software and services to protect against computer viruses, malware, spam, and Web-based threats. Steve Chang, a Taiwanese, the founder and former CEO of the company, started the company in California in 1988. In 2004 Chang passed leadership to Eva Chen, co-founder of Trend Micro. She was CTO from 1996 to 2004. One of her best known developments is Trend Micro InterScan VirusWall.
Trend Micro is known for producing the PC-cillin range of anti-virus products. They also are the creator of the free, online, browser-based malware scanner, HouseCall. In order to research and inform about worldwide security threats, they have a global threat response center, called TrendLabs. Its offices are located in the Taiwan, Japan, China, France, Germany, Ireland, United States, United Arab Emirates, Australia and New Zealand.
Since 2004, MSN Hotmail has been using Trend Micro to scan messages and attachments in free and Hotmail Plus accounts instead of McAfee, which has made the company more public. McAfee was then solely implemented on the MSN Premium service.
In April 2005, Trend Micro suffered a high-profile false alarm, which caused widespread computer crashes and turmoil across Asia.[2]
In February 2006, Trend Micro released Interscan Web Security Appliance (IWSA) which is their latest addition to the company's multi-layered approach to protecting enterprise organizations against spyware and other threats. The appliance acts as the first line of defense against threats like spyware, grayware, viruses, and phishing.
In February 2007, Eva Chen reached a settlement with the Securities and Exchange Commission over alleged violations. The settlement resolves alleged violations of Section 10(b) of the Securities Exchange Act of 1934 as well as Rule 10b-5 involving her spouse, Daniel Chiang, and trading in Sina Corp. securities.[citation needed] She neither admitted nor denied the allegations and agreed to pay a civil penalty and not to violate securities laws in the future.
The same month, they acquired HijackThis, an antispyware program from Merijn. They also maintain CWShredder, another one of Merijn's creations.
Trend Micro is on the US Federal Buying Schedule 70 through resellers Softchoice, ASAP, and Synnex.
On January 29, 2008, Trend Micro sued Barracuda Networks over their use of the free and open source anti-virus software Clam AntiVirus, which Trend Micro claims to be in violation of their software patent on anti-virus detection on an SMTP or FTP gateway.[3]
On February 8, 2008, ScriptumLibre called for a worldwide boycott of Trend Micro because of "abusing the patent system and aggressively attacking ClamAV users and developers"[4].
